Gilford Corporation Completed AARP Tenant Fit-Out, Washington, DC

The project encompassed specialty work on three separate floors of an occupied building. Work was scheduled to be performed during off hours and weekends to avoid disturbing tenants. The multiphase nature of the project required significant coordination with AARP activities, and building engineering requirements.
Systems and materials were selected on the basis of long-term operations and maintenance costs as those costs would be significantly higher over time than first costs. The design of the facility operating systems ensured ease and efficiency of operation and allowed for easy and cost effective maintenance and repair during the facility’s useful life.
Gilford obtained constant feedback from the building manager and other maintenance personnel during design. This collaboration will allow the facility to be designed with adequate understanding by both the designer and the building manager as to what is required for optimal life-cycle performance.
